Junior Tennis Lesson Skill Levels
TOTS (AGES 3-4)
For ages 3-4, classes are designed to introduce children to tennis, help them with tracking, eye-hand coordination and balance. Emphasis on fun and success.
PEEWEES (AGES 5-6)
For ages 5-6, classes are designed to introduce children to tennis, help them with tracking, eye-hand coordination and balance. Emphasis on fun and success.
These 1-hour classes are designed for students with no or limited tennis experience. Classes will provide a good foundation while emphasizing proper stroke mechanics and basic footwork. “FUN” is the magic word.
1.5 hr class. Students can successfully rally with age appropriate ball. Classes will emphasis on rallying and serving from the baseline. Learning to play “Real” tennis. Goal is to start playing on a consistent basis.
These students are able to play matches; serve, rally, rules and keep score and have been already rated eligible or need to try-out. In class there will be continued emphasis on footwork, strategy, consistency and full-court match play.
This training program is by try-out or pre-approval. Students in this program have already shown their ability and dedication through their tournament play and results. These students already have solid technique and a passion for tennis. Classes are designed with specific age and UTR in mind.
To be recognize as a PTP Team Member the student must meet the same eligibility requirements as listed in the Peak Training program, but in addition, this player has chosen PTP for all tennis training (minimum of 3 on-court sessions per week) and by doing so will receive benefits for the commitment.
Community Park Player Development Camp
This camp is for all levels, ages 8 to 15 years old, and is offered weekly from June 24 to August 16. The Player Development Camp is offered from 9:00am to 4:30. We also offer a Half Day Camp from 9:00am to noon, and early drop-off at 8:30 am. The program follows the same morning scheduling as our Full Day Camp.
All campers receive a Community Park Player Development Camp t-shirt.
Extended Care: We offer free extended care from 8:30-9:00am and 4:30-5:30pm to help working parents drop-off and pick-up their kids at a more convenient time. Extended care is free play in a supervised environment.
Indoor Back-up: No need to worry about coming to get your child if it rains in the middle of the day! In the event of rain, campers will play games in Community Park Elementary School. However, camp may still be canceled if the weather becomes too severe.
Full Day: $300/week
Half Day: $200/week
Morning: 9:00am – 12:00pm
- Focus on tennis strokes, footwork, hand-eye coordination, physical fitness, rules, sportsmanship and FUN! USTA evaluations will be offered. Friday is Davis Cup day, with an emphasis on team spirit (and prizes!).
Lunch Break: 12:00 – 1:30pm
- Supervised lunch. No refrigeration on site. Lunches must be packed appropriately.
Afternoon: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
- Focus on team format, match play, rules, scoring, sportsmanship and FUN! Thursday we offer swimming in the afternoon. Kids may also have an opportunity to compete in exchange matches with other local programs in the area.
Late Penalty: Pick-up must be by 5:30pm; otherwise, there is a $1/minute fee charged, to be paid directly to the instructor.
COMMUNITY PARK ROOKIE CAMP
This tennis camp is designed for beginners, ages 5 to 8 years old, and is offered each weekly from June 24 to August 16. CP Rookie Camp is offered from 9:00am to noon (drop-off as early as 8:30am). All campers will receive a Community Park Rookie Camp t-shirt.
This half-day camp focuses on tennis strokes, footwork, hand-eye coordination, physical fitness, rules, sportsmanship and FUN! USTA evaluations will be offered. Friday is Davis Cup day, with an emphasis on team spirit (and prizes!).
PTP & THE Y
A great opportunity for working parents, you can combine the 1/2 day Rookie Camp with the afternoon YMCA sports camp program*. The YMCA will pick up your child at CP and walk them back for lunch and the afternoon sports program at the YMCA.

VETERANS PARK TENNIS CAMP
This tennis camp is geared toward beginners and advanced beginners, ages 7 to 12 years old, and is offered the following weeks of summer:
Week 1: July 8-12
Week 2: July 15-19
Week 3: July 22-26
Week 4: July 29- August 2
Week 5: August 5-9
VP Tennis Camp is offered from 9:00am to noon (drop-off as early as 8:30am). Children will work on eye-hand coordination, catching, throwing, footwork, and basic stroke production. As their skills improve, they will learn to rally and play matches. Campers will use transitional tennis balls to enhance the learning process.
PEAK TRAINING CAMP
This camp is for Peak Training and PTP Performance players, or by approval of Glenn Michibata, ATP. Students who are currently enrolled in a Peak Training Class are eligible. Otherwise, approval is necessary. Peak Training Camp will be held at Community Park Tennis Complex each week from June 24 – August 16, from 9 am to 4:30 pm. All campers will receive a Peak Training Camp t-shirt.
INDOOR BACK-UP: If there is questionable weather or rain in the morning, we will hold camp that day at the Eve Kraft Community Tennis Center. To confirm where camp will be on a given day, call the Princeton Weather Hotline at 609-520-0015 ext. 2.
Full Day: $480/week
Morning: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Stroke work, high energy drills and conditioning, emphasis on proper footwork and mechanics.
Lunch Break: 12:00pm – 1:30pm
No refrigeration on site. Lunches must be packed appropriately.
Afternoon: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Strategy and experience gained through competitive point situations, match play and tournaments.
GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL PREP AT COMMUNITY PARK
This camp is for girls ages 14 to 17 either trying out for or on their high school team. Girls High School Prep is offered July 29 – August 2 and August 5 – 9 from 9 am to 4:30 pm at Community Park courts.
Girls will complete drills in the morning and play matches in the afternoon. Emphasis on tennis strokes, strategy, positioning, conditioning, match play, mental toughness and nutrition. Be prepared to work and play hard! All campers will receive a t-shirt.
Campers must be able to play full-court tennis.
DAVIS CUP & MATCH PLAY AT COMMUNITY PARK
This camp is for children ages 10 to 17 years old at Performers and Peak Training levels that can hit full-court. Offered 2 weeks this year; August 19 – 23 and August 26 – 30.
Match Play is supervised matches, while Davis Cup is in a fun team format. Your child can do either or both.
What is Davis Cup? Flags, banners, posters, essays, food and team colors are just a few highlights of Davis Cup week. The event includes exciting activities such as team competition in tennis, knock out, Olympics and JTT, with trophies and prizes awarded to all participants.
All campers will receive a t-shirt.
Davis Cup: 9:00am to noon. Fee: $90/week
Match Play: 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Fee: $90/week
Full Day Option: 9:00am to 4:30pm. Fee: $150/week
This exciting program teaches teenage participants how to become assistant pros. They learn how to organize classes, make presentations, teach techniques, and implement new drills. It’s a great way to subsidize their own lessons or make some extra money.
